Sarah Palin’s Pathetic Statement on the Arizona Shootings

Sarah Palin has just put out a pretty weak statement (see below) regarding the tragic shooting of House Member Gabrielle Giffords and the killing of many others, including a federal judge.

As Giffords herself has stated, there can be consequences when politicos like Palin release campaign literature going after rivals with “gun site targets”. Palin owes the nation more than the statement she has posted on her website – - and she needs to get her followers to recognize that there is no place in our country for this kind of violence.

Palin should be ashamed. Her advisers are saying it's appalling to connect Sarah Palin to the shootings, but how can we not make the connection? It was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

Marianne says:

Sarah may have taken down her graph, but she now claims that it never had cross-hairs on it. She and people like her, who use lies, distortions, and inflammatory rhetoric to keep their following roused up, need to accept their share of blame for this senseless utter tragedy.

Taking the graph down after someone marked with cross-hairs has been shot is a pointless and vain effort. It's impossible to un-ring a bell. Denying that the cross-hairs were ever there int he first place is a cowardly lie. Her "condolences" were ridiculous and impersonal. She might have said as much to the family whose dog had been hit by a car. If she doesn't understand the part she played in the creation of this incident, maybe an arrest for incitement would do the trick. The rest of Fox News' talking heads can share her cell.

Linda Wiegering says:

Like your other lame-stream media cohorts, you should be ashamed for politicizing a tragedy that had nothing whatsoever to do with Sarah Palin or anyone else on the political left or right. You, sir, are an iresponsible idiot - like your readers who swallow your hogwash. You're not fit to have your marxist views be in print.

Jesse says:

A responsible media would not print, broadcast, or televise 90% of what that woman says. The Palin-machine was created by an irresponsible media whose only motivation is the bottom line. Responding to her infantile comments- or "graphs" only lowers the credibility of a media outlet. I guess you have to sell those Tostitos ads though.

"...the other victims of today's tragic shooting in Arizona". You would think that Mrs. Palin would take the time to
actually identify the victims by name in a press release. I wonder id\f she can see the AZ Safeway from her house ?
A total blithering idiot, with double-d's. That's really why she's famous.'Nuff said.

Simon says:

"Firing them back to the public sector" is hardly a call to kill someone, even if cross-hairs were shown.

That being the case, the articles I've read indicate this guy had been stalking Gabrielle Giffords for 3-4 years. This is waaaay before Palin's March 2010 posting of the cross-hair map.

Even if we assume this guy was really confused, we've got to at least assume that the shooter was an avid Tea Partier, and follower of Palin, if Palin was somehow to blame, right? Actually he was known to hold communist view points, which is the opposite of the Tea Party.

As a result, I have to ask, how is Palin responsible here, besides being the victim of media distortions to try and make it look like she called for the shootings? There is no indication that the shooter ever even read Palin's Facebook page.
