Balenciaga, Gwyneth Paltrow’s favorite designer, has whipped up some new uniforms for Air Tahiti Nui, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Not unlike a celeb’s carry-on for a weekend, the new collection consists of over 20 different outfits. Why so many? Well, the captain simply wouldn’t be caught dead wearing the same thing as the second officer! In addition to different uniforms for different jobs, Air Tahiti Nui’s makeover includes two outfits for flight attendents. They’ll start flights in crisp, tailored island-color suits and then, after boarding, they’ll change into traditional Tahitian garb. Will passengers near a curtained-off galley be forced to watch the awkward dances of a changing room? (And could that potentially be a bonus?) But the real question is simple: Does the Balenciaga makeover include a dressing room for the plane with someone on hand to do full hair and makeup? Nine hours direct from Los Angeles, and anyone — even a hot Tahitian woman in Balenciaga — could start to look a little frumpers.
