Neil Diamond in Rock Hall of Fame? That’s the Wrong Hall

Neil Diamond in Rock Hall of Fame? That's the Wrong Hall News item: Neil Diamond elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Neil Diamond a rock and roller? I’ve never thought of him that way.

But the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thinks Neil is a rocker. He’s been voted into the Hall, along with Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, the Alice Cooper Band, Dr. John and Darlene Love. That’s an eclectic group, so I suppose the Hall casts a pretty wide net.

But still, I think Neil is going into the wrong Hall. Instead of Cleveland, Neil belongs in Cooperstown, where Baseball Hall of Famers call home. It’s no coincidence that the guy’s last name is “Diamond.”

Here’s Neil, performing like an All-Star at Fenway Park:

Here’s another Fenway rendition of “Sweet Caroline,” this one a recording … except the 37,000 backup singers:

And what’s this? Dave Matthews, a guy I generally think of as more of a rocker than Neil, got into the act one night at Boston’s “lyrical little bandbox.” Hmm, wonder if Updike sings. Anyway, here’s Dave:
