Kobe Bryant Cries a River for Pau Gasol

Kobe Bryant Whines “Like” a Spoiled Baby

Kobe Bryant went all Nike with a “Just Do It” message for the Lakers’ front office in regard to trade rumors involving Pau Gasol. Well, he tempered it with some “Or Don’t Do It,” which I believe is the tagline for Uggs, but he was still being pretty whiny. It is interesting that he is not fighting to keep Pau in town. Rather, he just seems to want the Lakers to make a decision:

“I talked to (Gasol) a little bit about it,” Bryant said. “It’s just tough for a player to give his all when you don’t know if you’re going to be here tomorrow. I’d rather them not trade him at all. If they’re going to do something, I wish they would just (expletive) do it. If they’re not going to do it, come out and say you’re not going to do it. This way he can be comfortable, he can go out, he can play and he can invest all of himself into the game.”

Uhmm…how much do these guys have to get paid before they realize they are expected to give it their all every night, no matter what the situation is? That is why guys like Pau Gasol are paid hundreds of millions of dollars to play a game. It would be natural for Pau to be distracted by the situation, and I can see how it would affect his performance. But there is no reason beyond being a spoiled brat that trade rumors should prevent him from giving his all every time he suits up.

Why am I not surprised Kobe doesn’t get this?
