Today’s Health Care Clicks, 11/16/09

Time examines the Democratic split on abortion coverage in health care reform.

As they promise to cut $8 billion off costs, drug manufacturers have raised prices of brand-name prescriptions at the fastest rate in years.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is promising $50,000 to an economist who will study the health care legislation before Congress and write up a negative report.

This Politico piece bugs me. The writer essentially states an opinion, but wraps his opinion in the wisdom of the late Pat Moynihan. In other words, he pretends that he’s not stating his own view, but rather proving Moynihan’s theory. And Moinahan, of course, is dead and cannot speak for himself.

If you’re wondering what the holdup is in the Senate, Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is waiting on a cost estimate from the Congressional Budget Office. More specifically, he’s waiting on an estimate that is to his liking (and has been revising the bill in order to get one).
