Noted teabag insurrectionist Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., will be leading a rally today of right-wing protesters outside the capitol. What happens next, however, is more interesting. Bachmann has vowed to lead the brigade through the halls of Congress to confront Democratic lawmakers on health care in their offices. To my knowledge, such a member-led protest is unprecedented.
And with an assist from Fox News, the tea partiers believe that Nancy Pelosi is planning a major security crack down on them once they enter congressional office buildings. As Josh Marshall said, this makes for “sort of a heavy mindset going in.”
The rally will include speeches from vaunted health policy scholars and political heavyweights such as…Jon Voigt.
Regardless, it should be a good show. Although these operations tend to run a bit late, the fun is supposed to start around noon.
