Vampire Weekend Gets Sued. Who’s Next?
Poor Ezra Koening. Earlier today, news swept the Interwebs that the young woman on the cover of Vampire Weekend’s latest record—the Mona Lisa of indie-rock—is suing the band for $2 million. According to TMZ, a consent form to use the photo on the cover, originally taken in 1983, does exist. But Kirsten Kennis, the mystery woman in question, says her signature was forged. And she is not pleased.
Besides feeling a touch of schadenfreude over the sorry tribulations of our Ivy League heroes, I couldn’t help but think of all the other random folks whose image might have been used on an album cover without their consent and who might one day take the offending band to court. Here are the five most libelous album covers that immediately come to mind (not sure why the list is so ’90s heavy). Suggestions are of course welcome:
Dinosaur Jr – “Green Mind”

Sebadoh – “Bakesale”

Pearl Jam – “Jeremy”

The Black Crows – “Amorica”

Blind Faith – “Blind Faith”
