Sex Swami Out of the Slammer

For those of you who have been breathlessly awaiting updates on Swami Nityananda, the infamous “Sex Swami,” I am sorry to be late in reporting this news: the guru of love is no longer behind bars. He posted a 500,000 rupee (about $11,000) bail and was released from prison in Karnataka on Friday, June 11. Nityananda has been accused of rape, fraud and other criminal charges after he was filmed having sex with a Tamil film starlet. He served 53 days in jail before posting bail and agreeing to some stringent conditions set by the High Court for his release. These include a prohibition on the swami conducting any spiritual classes, with the exception of yoga and meditation. The magistrate, however, did not say anything about whether the swami can continue his amateur production of the kama sutra on film.
