FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I share an article with a friend?
At The Faster Times, we encourage sharing. There are three ways you can share an article with a friend:
1) At the bottom of the article, scroll over the “share/save” icon. This option allows you to either post the article for your friends to read on your preferred social networking site, send it out from your email address, or bookmark it to show your friends later.
2) While not our preferred method (we love trees at The Faster Times), you can also click on the “print” icon if you have a picky friend who prefers the feel of paper in her hands.
3) Click the “email” icon to email your friend a link to the article in one easy step.
How do I comment on an article?
In order to post a comment on an article, you must have a free TFT account. Why, you ask? We’d like to keep the comments section reserved for you, the reader. Having a login process makes it harder for spammers and advertisers to interrupt the discussion and annoy you. To register for a TFT account, click on the “join” icon in upper right hand corner of the home page.
One you’re registered, it’s easy to post comments anytime you’re signed in. Scroll down to the end of the article you’d like to comment on until you see the comment box. Type away in that little box, and then click “ post a comment” to share it.
How do I sign up for a free TFT account?
To sign up for a free TFT account, which enables you to post comments, simply click the “Join” icon which appears at the upper right hand corner of every page. You will be asked to create a username and password.
My comment was deleted! Why?
We are all about the First Amendment at The Faster Times. That said, advertisements charading as reader comments will always be deleted. We prefer to encourage a dialogue between readers.
In very rare cases, a comment may be deleted by an editor if it is found unnecessarily offensive, violent, or grossly inappropriate. We encourage you to speak your mind, but please do so respectfully.
What is a RSS feed and how do I sign up for it?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Each section has its own RSS feed, which is basically a news feed that publishes new articles for that specific section to your preferred RSS Reader (i.e. Google Reader, MyYahoo!, etc.). The benefit of signing up for a RSS feed is that exciting, new content from your section of interest comes to you directly as soon as it appears on the TFT site.
How do I subscribe/ unsubscribe to an RSS feed?
To subscribe to a particular section’s RSS feed, simply click on the “RSS Feeds” icon, located on the menu bar at the bottom of the section page. You will be led through a short series of prompts to subscribe.
To unsubscribe, simply remove that RSS feed from your RSS Reader’s list.
How do I change my email address on my TFT account?
Go to http://thefastertimes.com/wp-admin/profile.php and enter your username and password to access your account profile.
Help! I forgot my password!
When you click on the “Log In” icon at the upper right hand corner of the TFT homepage, you will be asked to enter a username and password. If you have forgotten your password, click on “Trouble Logging In.” The system will ask you to enter either your username or your email address. Once you have done so, you will receive an email with a new password. Voila!
