The relatively recent literary journal Electric Literature has been getting a lot of buzz in the literary world for its digital marketing (the journal is print). My favorite thing they do is produce beautiful “single sentence animations” from stories in the journal. In the past they’ve done everyone from Lydia Davis to Michael Cunningham, and many of them have been made by the extremely talented writer and artist Luca Dipierro (check out his beautiful collaboration with writer Leni Zumas at Gigantic magazine).
Here are their most recent animations:
Luca DiPierro’s interpretation of a sentence from Jenny Offill’s short story, The Tunnel.
Artist Vance Reeser animates a sentence from Matt Sumell’s short story “Little Things.”
Artist Donna K. hallucinates a sentence from author Aimee Bender’s “The Red Ribbon.”
Artist Jonathan Ashley imagines a sentence from author Stephen O’Connor’s “Love.”
