Fantasy Bastketball: Better Than Okur and Less than 10% Owned

Mehmet Okur is coming back! I’m not actually that excited, except that I get to share this song with all of you. A song that has a Mehmet Okur rhyme in it!

Because I found this amazing song, I will be listing the players who are surprisingly more fantasy relevant than 39% owned, 31 year old from Turkey.

Kurt Thomas: He may be older than most of your grandparents and jumping might be painful for him, but until Joakim Noah comes back, Thomas is looking like he’ll be the starter. And as a starter Thomas has averaged 7.9 Rebs, 1.3 Stls, and 1.9 Blks. Those are good defensive numbers for any player, let alone one who is most remembered for a team he played for in the 90s. Earl Boykins: He’s shorter than you. He weighs less than you. I’m always a fan of suggesting Boyk because I was 4’10″ in high school and quit basketball because of it, E-Boy proves that I was an idiot. Since Jennings went down, Boykins has averaged 17.2 Pts, 1.4 3s, and 1 Stl. I know I just told you not to care about players who excel in only these three categories, but… (owned in 2% of leagues)

Ersan Ilyasova: The Bucks have been ravaged by injuries, which is when our other Turkish star shines brightest. In games where he’s started he’s averaged 10.3 Pts, 7.2 Rebs, and 0.8,0.5,0.7 in stls, blks, and 3s respectively and that includes games like his 17 pts 16 rebounds yesterday. (owned in 8% of leagues)

Ryan Anderson: 1.8 3s, 6 rebounds, 1.4 steals. Those stats don’t go together. That’s a good thing for a fantasy player. (owned in 5% of leagues)

Vladimir Radmanovic and Sasha Vujajic: I picked to former Yugoslavians because I wanted to make sure that there was always conflict there. Both get threes and steals. Radman gets rebounds, Vujaj gets points. Neither is really worth picking up, but are both better than Okur. Keep an eye on Radman though because he’s started the last two games and if he continues to, he may be worth a pickup. (owned by 2% and 5%)
