Kanye West bounded onstage and snatched the mike from Taylor Swift at tonight’s Video Music Awards in New York City.
The 19-year old country singer had just received the award for Best Female Video when West interrupted her speech, took away her mike, and announced that Beyoncé’s video was better and should have won instead.
Beyoncé looked pretty mortified, while the rest of the audience rallied to give the visibly shaken Swift a standing ovation.
Perhaps the VMA’s most memorable moment, and definitely its most embarrassing.
According to an MTV blog post, Kanye West was asked to leave Radio City Music Hall soon after crashing the stage:
According to a tweet from Jay-Z’s DJ, Neil Armstrong, Swift and her mother were seen backstage crying afterward; Beyoncé brought Swift onstage for another chance at her acceptance speech later in the show. Various celebs have lashed out against West on Twitter, including Pink, who had to be escorted away from the rapper by security.
Kanye West apologized to Taylor Swift on his blog, even though the apology (and seemingly, every blog post he’d ever written) was taken down this morning.
**UPDATE** Kanye apologizes to Taylor Swift on “The Jay Leno Show.” Read our post and watch the video here.

Talk about your buzzkills. Usually I reserve my sympathy for the disadvantaged, but did that poor kid get her feelings hurt or what?

I was so mortified when I saw that... I actually felt Taylor and Beyonce's pain... my God, what an asshat!
