What Ink Did Miley Add This Time?

When an artist, especially one as young as Miley Cyrus, goes out of her way to promote social and moral change—she must be applauded. When that artist is so devoted to that cause that she gets a symbolic tattoo to display her passion, she must be deified in the form of a bronze statue.

I don’t have the means or the talent to create a bronze statue. This article, however, will serve as a metaphorical one.

Here is the tattoo.

Look at that “equal sign.”

Look at it.

Do you have an equal sign tattooed onto your finger? No. Do you have 6 other tattoos? Maybe. Do you even have “Just Breathe” etched into to your rib cage like Miley does? Doubt it.

The equal sign, according to Miley, represents “equal love.” “All Love is Equal” is what Cyrus tweeted on Friday. Many speculate that the ink is supposed to be a statement in favor of gay marriage. The ‘tat and tweet’ combo started a comment war on her page, but every comment chain seems to be an explosive one nowadays.

All sarcasm aside, Cyrus really should be commended. It is refreshing to see a young woman of her fame and stature taking a stand on such a polemic issue. Her tolerance and open-mindedness will undoubtedly affect some of her younger fans for the better. Miley has to know this too, making the decision to get inked even more legit.
