Kristen Stewart Out: Lois Lane Search Continues

Twilight star, Kristen Stewart dropped out of the running for Lois Lane in the new Superman movie in favor of taking roles in independent films. Although Stewart has been absolutely riveting in the Twilight Saga I’m certainly not going to shed too many tears at this news. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn begins filming in Vancouver this month whereas Superman is scheduled to begin sometime this year in Vancouver as well. There could be possible overlap or Stewart could just be unwilling to spend so much time in Vancouver. There is also a possibility that there would be a conflict with Snow White and the Huntsman.

Stewart’s withdrawal leaves Jessica Biel, Dianna Agron, Rachel McAdams and Malin Akerman in the race. It also opens up the door to two more choices: Mila Kunis and Olivia Wilde. Henry Cavill will most likely be playing Superman, but which girl will be a perfect match to his Superman?

Rachel McAdams ought to be the frontrunner because of her enormous versatility and talent, but unfortunately that often has little to do with the politically and economically fueled casting decisions of major Hollywood motion pictures. Mila Kunis would also be a good choice because she is not just another pretty face but could hold her own against Superman. Lois Lane is a character that needs spunk and verve. She should not be a sexy but boring girl and hopefully Zack Snyder and his casting directors realize this.
