After ripping apart her ex-boyfriend and selling millions of copies of her albums 19 and 21, Adele is ready to make peace, telling The Independent that she is now working on befriending her ex.
Ever since publishing my previous piece on Adele in May, I have begun to adore (and hate myself for adoring) Adele’s music. “Someone Like You” and “Rolling in the Deep” are perfectly sad singles to blast on your radio and try to hold back tears as you’re rolling up to purchase a dollar ice cream cone from McDonalds. So although I regrettably enjoy Adele’s lyrics, I hate myself at the same time.
Who The Hell Is Adele’s Ex-Boyfriend? Part I
Why do I hate myself? Because Adele is the obsessive ex in all of us. Adele’s the ex who doesn’t give up, who thinks (and sings) about her ex for months and years after the relationship ended. By doing this she convinces herself that something might be able to change, and in turn, convinces us of the same. But while Adele is making millions and playing sold-out concerts through her mourning, we’re left telling ourselves that we really do need that second snack size McFlurry.
And as is evident from her recent quote, she believes that she can move on after a couple of years of hurt and anguish and actually become this man’s friend.
“We’re becoming friends again,” she said. “It’s alright, I know what I’m doing. Enough time has gone by.” If anyone doesn’t think that this isn’t a calculated move by both parties, please argue with me in the comments. Why would Adele’s ex befriend the woman who made him the most hated anonymous man on the planet? Answer: royalties and that VH1 dating show that I talked about earlier. And why would Adele want to befriend the ex that “destroyed” (aka made) her life? Maybe she needs some material for 23?
(By the way, all of The Faster Times readers looooved my previous piece on Adele’s ex. “guest” commented with “YOU SIR, ARE A DOUCHEBAG.” Why thank you, “guest”, I hope that you enjoyed this article just as much!)
